most of my customers love those phones.  The only thing you might want to consider is a phone with a touch screen and a better key pad.  Using the keypad on most BB is tough because it is so damn small.  You might be able to get an HTC model phone.  I had the 8125 and it was great.  Just remember though smart phones are cool for what they do except making calls.  They all seem to suck at it.  Normaly theres an extra step involved and they are big and bulky to hold up to your ear so make sure u get a bluetooth headset to use with it.
